 - History
- 1981—Marriage Ministry for the African-American Community in the Archdiocese of Chicago—primarily marriage preparation (First of its kind in the country). Still exists.
- Middle 1980s—Worldwide Marriage Encounter (African-American Expression). Very short-lived.
- Late 1980s—African-American Marriage Enrichment (Archdiocese of Chicago). Served a few parishes. But little support from the community in general.
- 1991—African-American Marriage Preparation (Archdiocese of Atlanta). Still exists.
- 1993—Arusi Retreat (Lyke). Still exists.
- 1993—Umoja Retreat (Milwaukee). Ongoing annual event.
- 2000—Archdiocesan Black Catholic Celebration of Marriage (Archdiocese of Chicago). Frequency not determined. But will continue.
